Cornerstone Missions Outreach

At Cornerstone we reach out to the world and our surrounding community in the name of Jesus, by supporting missionary families and the direct involvement of our church and its members in outreach and missions projects. We do this in the love of Christ and our members are encouraged to participate by the giving of their gifts, time and resources. This may be through direct participation:  for example; attending a prison chapel service, helping stock the food pantry, serving soup and clothing to the homeless in Wilmington, a mission trip to Haiti, and many other opportunities.

For many years, Cornerstone has maintained the Needy Fund, which is a tithe of its weekly offering. This fund supports mission outreach and direct help to the needy in our area. Church Outreach

Angel Tree Ministry
At Christmastime, volunteers from Cornerstone Church purchase and deliver gifts to the children of inmates in their parent’s name. Each gift delivery also presents an opportunity to share the love and hope of Christ with each family.

Churchman's Village
A monthly outreach every fourth Sunday at 2:30 p.m., to the residents of a local nursing home that provides an opportunity to show Christ’s love and our regard by our friendship and  fellowship. Contact: John and Linda McKinley

Cornerstone Community Food Pantry
The food pantry provides canned goods and packaged food to those in need who request it and depends on our friends and members help in donating food, re-stocking shelves or pre-packing boxes. Donations can be brought in, Mon-Fri (9am-4pm) and during weekend services at the "wagon" in the main entrance/foyer. The greatest need right now is for peanut butter, jelly, oatmeal, pancake mix, pancake syrup, spaghetti sauce and baked beans.

Cornerstone Needy Fund
A tithe of Cornerstone’s weekly offering used in missions and outreach to the needy.

Easter Baskets
Cornerstone friends and members have the opportunity annually to make up Easter baskets for the children in local homeless shelters.  These include candy, small toys, toothbrushes and toothpaste.

 Operation Christmas Child
This once-a-year opportunity at Cornerstone brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love.

Operation Hope/Hope Mobile 
A Cornerstone ministry that delivers food and clothing to poor and homeless in Wilmington every Thursday evening.   Contact: Maurice Egnor

Scouting Ministry
Cornerstone’s active Cub Pack 902 and Boy Scout troop 902 meet weekly and provide many recreational, fun and character building opportunities for children and youth.

Thanksgiving Baskets
This once a year opportunity allows Cornerstone members and friends to reach out to any families in our community who are in need, by providing all the fixings for a Thanksgiving dinner.  Baskets are assembled at Cornerstone and delivered by volunteers.  Contact: Tammy Young

Door of Hope
Christian-based support and counseling for women in need of help during pregnancy.

Emmanuel Dining Room
Three facilities in Wilmington that provide nutritious meals daily to the hungry. Many churches, synagogues and civic groups prepare and serve meals on a rotating basis. You can join with others at Cornerstone who serve at designated times.   Contact: Bev Martin

Habitat for Humanity 
It's mission is to build affordable housing at no-profit through a combination of volunteer labor, 'sweat-equity' and no-interest mortgages. They act in partnership with the community as a diverse group, including individuals, partner families, faith groups, civic organizations, local schools and businesses. They reach out from Christian roots across denominational, faith, economic and racial lines to bring together people who are concerned for their neighbors. They strive to develop and empower individuals and communities through the construction of simple, decent homes. Contact: Chris and Mindy Siple

• Shop @ HFH's ReStore - proceeds from the store last year helped to build 2 new homes
• Volunteer @ HFH - Last year 3700 volunteers helped build 21 new homes
• Build - Since our inception in 1986 HFH has build affordable housing with 166 low-income families in our community

Love, Inc. 
Direct help provided, as well as coordinating the ministry to the needy among the churches of New Castle County.

Meeting Ground 
A community founded on the principle of Christian compassion for those in need consisting of several shelters in the Cecil County area that provide hospitality, shelter, food and education to the homeless.

St. Clair Medical Van
A mobile medical clinic out of St. Francis Hospital that provides vaccinations and medical care on the streets of Wilmington.

Sunday Breakfast Mission
Located in Wilmington, the Mission feeds, clothes, shelters and provides Christian worship, Bible studies and counseling for men who come to the mission daily. 

Transport for Christ, Int 
The ministry's mission is to lead truck drivers as well as the trucking community to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith. Their vision is to provide an effective ministry to truck drivers throughout the world wherever there is a significant trucking industry. Their goal is that no trucker should have to drive more than a day without being able to find a TFC Mobile Chapel. 

UrbanPromise
A ministry to children and youth living in the inner-city neighborhoods of Wilmington, Delaware.
The mission of UrbanPromise is to teach children and young adults the skills necessary for spiritual growth, academic achievement, life management and Christian leadership. The ministry includes 5 after-school programs, 5 summer day camps, the StreetLeader program, the international intern program and the UrbanPromise School.

Youth for Christ 
Youth for Christ is a faith-based organization which partners with the community to see that every young person has the opportunity to reach their full potential - academically, socially and spiritually - enabling them to become positive role models in their families, communities and churches. Delaware Youth for Christ is a ministry to at-risk youth in New Castle County, Delaware. They currently work with approximately 3,000 young people each year through after-school programs at youth centers and a mentoring program. 

World Outreach

Bread for the World (UMCOR)
A collective Christian voice urging our nation's decision makers to end hunger at home and abroad. Throughout the year, Bread for the World provides information, resources and updates on issues important to hungry people.

China Outreach Ministries
A Christian mission organization which offers Christ to China's future leaders, primarily those studying outside of China.

Good News Broadcasting     
Good News Broadcast has a mission to find, receive, create and broadcast to the world, life-affirming, thought-provoking, educational news, entertainment and events; content that is non-violent, non-sectarian, non-political. We elicit the positive side of news from the world's public, media and journalists in order to generate compelling domestic and international stories.

Harvest USA
A ministry proclaiming Christ as Lord to a sexually broken world by partnering with and equipping the Church in bringing the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to transform the lives of those affected by sexual sin. 

Matt & Stacey Ayars    OMS
Full time missionaries to Haiti since 2005. Their  primary ministry focus is Emmaus Biblical Seminary, where Matt is the vice-director, teaches Old Testament studies is working on his masters. Stacey teaches first and second year English and is the Seminary's marketing director, raising awareness and support for the pastors, Christian leaders, missionaries and evangelists that attend.

David and Lorene Persons
David and Lorene ("Lori") Persons are United Methodist missionaries at Mulungwishi Station in the Democratic Republic of Congo and also Zambia, Africa. David's father was a missionary. Lori's father was a missionary. You could say missionary work is in their blood. They work through the United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries.
David is Dean of the Mulungwishi Theological Seminary (Faculte Methodiste de Theologie) at The University of Katanga at Mulungwishi.
Lori is director of the Doris Bartlett Women's School, which provides training for the wives of seminary students.

Transforming Christ
The ministry's overarching goal is to help local churches achieve the education, understanding and tools to effectively minister truth and compassion to the sexually confused, broken and sinful in their congregations and communities. They do almost no one-on-one work with individuals or families, but do offer referral and prayer to anyone that contacts them.
